Activities: Hiking, Biking, Horseback Riding Trail Distance: 0.3 miles (one way) single track Trail Difficulty: Easy Trail Description The Een’oog Trail follows the rim of the geographic formation known as Land Hill. Numerous petroglyphs are accessible for viewing along this route. Once the trail passes the intersection with the U’waiv Trail (heading west), the Een’oog Trail becomes narrow and rocky, and has steep exposure along the rim that may make it unsuitable for young children. The Een’oog Trail is accessible by connecting a series of short trails: From the Tukupetsi Trailhead begin on the Fishhook Trail heading north to the Upper Graveyard Trail . (0.3 miles) Turn left onto the Upper Graveyard Trail heading west to the Tempi’po’op Trail (0.3 miles) Cross the trail onto the Een’oog Trail . Een’oog means “old ones” in the Southern Paiute language. Ancestral Puebloans and Southern Paiutes lived in this area and are closely connected to the land. The Santa Clara River was vital to both cultures and is a protected as part of the Santa Clara River Reserve. Santa Clara/Land Hill is designated as an Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC). Leave No Trace Protect the canyon walls and rocks from graffiti and vandalism. Stay on established trails to protect vegetation and fragile cryptobiotic soils. Dispose of trash, food particles, and pet waste appropriately.
