The African Burial Ground stands as the oldest and largest known excavated burial site in North America for both free and enslaved Africans.
It offers a profound testament to the enduring legacy of African communities whose labor, resilience, and cultural contributions were fundamental in shaping the development of New York.

Directions
The African Burial Ground National Monument is located on the first floor of the Ted Weiss Federal Building located at 290 Broadway in Lower Manhattan; close to Foley Square and just north of City Hall. Our visitor center is located mid-block on Broadway between the cross streets of Duane Street and Reade Streets.
