§ 02 — OVERVIEW
The Southwest Walk-in Campground is located on the east side of the Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center parking area.
When snow is present, approximately November to May, overnight stays are only allowed in self-contained vehicles in the parking lot (walk-in tent sites are closed in winter). Regulations change and the walk-in tent sites are open when the snow melts, approximately June to October.

The parking area is 5 spaces in the center of the parking lot for Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center. The visitor center / parking lot are located in the southwest corner of Lassen Volcanic National Park along the park's main road (Hwy 89), about one mile from the southwest entrance (500 feet from entrance station/fee booth).
Weather Notes
The park receives very little precipitation between July and September. Snow can linger on peaks into July and August, although the parking lot is usually snow-free by late-June. The Southwest Parking Area is located at 6,700 feet elevation. Summer/Fall high temperatures range from 65 to 81°F and lows range from 26 to 36°F. Winter/Spring high temperatures range from 50 to 61°F and lows range from 13 to 23°F.
