Nordheimer’s main campground is open year-round and offers 12 single fee sites, all on a first-come first-served basis. No running water. No electric or sewer hookups. There is a vault restroom, and each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Most sites provide some shade. Roads and parking areas are gravel. The campground is located in a Douglas-fir and hardwood forest next to the Wild and Scenic California Salmon River. Remnants from historic mining operations can still be seen in this remote but beautiful camping area. A few fruit trees remain from past homesteading activities. Boat access through the campground to the river’s edge is available for 4x4 vehicles.
