§ 02 — OVERVIEW
Arizona State Museum is the oldest and largest anthropology museum in the Southwest. Established in 1893 as Arizona's Territorial Museum, ASM houses the state's anthropological treasures and employs many of the state's experts in anthropology and related fields.
For more than a century, ASM has accumulated vast and varied collections that are recognized as a world-wide resource for research and teaching. The museum's collections and collective body of research tell the story of approximately 13,000 years of human occupation and interaction with the unique arid environments of the Greater Southwest.
