§ 02 — OVERVIEW
The Coyote Ranger District Office is located along NM State Highway 96 approximately 21 miles from the Junction of SH 84 & SH 96. The Coyote Ranger District contains approximately 265,100 acres, of which 24% is designated wilderness, and semi-primitive in nature.
Elevation ranges from 10,600 feet in the spruce-fir forests and high mountain meadows of the San Pedro Parks Wilderness to 6,200 feet along the Rio Chama Wild and Scenic corridor as well as the Chama River Canyon Wilderness.
